Dr. Cassandra Lenza is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and owner of Healing on Hudson LLC, a growing network of specialized therapists in New Jersey. She specializes in anxiety, balancing life transitions, depression, eating disorders, body image, and trauma. Prior to opening her private practice, she was Clinical Director of BALANCE, a leading eating disorder treatment center in NYC. She also completed a two-year postgraduate program at the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia. We discuss eating disorders, disordered eating, what are the signs to look for in friends, family, and children, and what the healing process can look like. We also talk about Intuitive Eating, diet culture, and what to say and not to say when it comes to a person’s body. We also talk about body image and just how hard it is to have a body.
“A lot of relief can be found in knowing that having a body is really challenging. The experience of living in a body where things can go wrong, can break, can feel differently from one week to the next is something we don’t talk about nearly enough.” - Dr. Cassandra Lenza
